And once again, my photos are inserted in reverse order. Love that. Also love that it's arbitrary.
So we'll start with the most important thing anyway, and that is Wyatt's birthday!!! All month long he was waiting for this day and planning out his presents. This boy is super into WW2 and guns and legos. So he got special WW2 lego sets with guns. He also wanted and M&M cake and Braums for dinner. He had a good day and we love our "Wally".
On the 27th I performed for my school's "Wednesday Noon Recital." It's a requirement for all 1-hr applied music students. I spent the entire semester learning Tchaikovsky's Romance Op 5, memorizing (which is very difficult for me) and learning the tiniest of nuances. I felt ready, I had worked with my teacher almost every day, some times every night. I wasn't even nervous. I love this piece even though after all that work I felt like I was just barely scratching the surface. I was last on the program and as I sat there, listening to the other performers, I felt the music leave my head. It was a completely physical, weird experience. I loved hearing the other students and they were really great, but it messed with me! I felt like I didn't even know how my peice started!! And yes, I messed up my big chord and then there's this one place where if my hands go this way, it's correct, but if my hands go on auto pilot and forget and go the other way (which happens later in the piece) I'm screwed and just have to keep going. And I know this happens. And it happened. So I ended up skipping my favorite most beautiful part in the piece. All these decisions happen in milliseconds. No one would notice, there were no pauses or indication of what happened, but it's sad to me. And I was sad it was over. I'm so thankful for my teacher.
Bathroom progress.
In one of my ensemble pieces I actually get up and take selfies during the middle. It's part of the act. So I have lots of pictures on my phone of the 3 of us. We have such fun times.
These kids LOVE their chickens.
As a thank you to my teacher, I thought I'd buy her some Russian treats. So I took the kids to the Euro Deli and we bought anything that looked good so we could sample some things as well. We also bought some headcheese. Not my favorite, but Amelia and Tyler liked it. After all that, my teacher refused to take it (she refuses EVERYTHING, I should have known) so we ended up eating it all, lol.
My grandma turned 95 and we celebrated with a big party!
I actually love these guys in my room. In lots of other countries and all throughout history, this is how it would be. I get to be cozy in my bed and read to them (Will comes in to listen too), right now we're reading Farmer Boy and we pray and they go to sleep.
It's been fun having Maddie home.
Giselle tried on Nana's wedding dress. We were all amazed at how small Nana was!
Maddie wanted to try on my dress--she loves the hippie vibes and says she's wearing it too. I love it.
This has been my favorite read of 2021. If I could give a copy to every person on the street, we'd live in a different world. What fascinates me is this is all the same stuff my teacher tells me. She grew up in Soviet Russia and her stories are fascinating, scary, sad, and amazing.
I thought the irises were extra pretty thing year.
Our first swim. It was really cold. It's been a cold spring and we haven't gone back.
Easter Sunday. We watched General Conference.
The kids are all in camo. I did not plan that.
The MCO concert aired right before Easter and it was so good! I got a few cameo appearances, which was fun.
