Baby Pony Nutmeg!!!

Our surprise pregnant pony had her baby!! Nutmeg was born April 19th. None of us saw it. We just went out in the afternoon and there was a tiny filly. She may have been born earlier that morning, but none of us looked! Tyler would have seen, but he was still in hospital from hip surgery.

The day before, Mariah of Sweet Mercy Rescue Ranch was posting all about how her mare is ready to foal. So I started watching some youtube videos about foaling and I had decided Nora was no where close.

She said, finally. You're not bugging me about having a baby!
Mariah's mare Soli had her baby same day too!!!!

We named her Nutmeg to keep with the N names, Nora, Nash, Nestle (this is how the rescue keeps each rescue batch organized--they go in alphabetical order. The last group saved from the kill pens started with T) and she has a dusting of spice all over, plus she's as sweet as can be.

Meg is super affectionate and lets us love all over her. She nuzzled my head and neck and I was dying it was so cute. Their little breaths.

We don't know who the father is, but she sure looks like Nash. She has 1 blue eye! We don't know Nora's whereabouts last spring.

Loves to look dead during her naps.

The spindly legs remind me of Amelia

She's about as tall as Ranger

 We love her to pieces!!!!

The beginning

Today was Elle's first riding lesson. She loved it, and so did I. So much so that I'm going to be taking a lesson next week too. I feel more excited than a kid at Christmas. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves:
